Currency

Euro was introduced as the official currency in Ireland in 2002. If you are coming from other participating member states this means that you do not have to change your currency when you arrive.

If you are travelling from a country that does not use the Euro as currency then you should change your money either prior to arriving or at any bureau de change/bank once you arrive. You can find such facilities in the airport or at most banks. Ireland's main banks include AIB, Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank.

If you are shopping in Dublin remember that visitors from Non-EU countries can get their VAT/Sales Tax back on purchases made.
